Innovation Week 2022

As a pioneer for sustainable innovation, we could not miss out on this year’s Innovation Week.  Held once annually, Innovation week hosts a series of collaborative events and exhibitions which aim at providing space to innovators, policymakers, corporate entities, development partners, researchers, and other players in the innovation ecosystem to share what they have been working on, learn from and inspire each other, collaborate across sectors, and transform Tanzania through the scaling of innovation.

This year’s Innovation week was jointly organized by UNDP Tanzania through FUNGUO Tanzania, COSTECH Tanzania, and the Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology under the theme Innovation For Sustainable Development. We participated through an exhibition slot which allowed us to showcase our impactful storytelling through the use of 3D Animations, interacted with potential stakeholders and engage with the public.

The impact of Innovative Storytelling, we’ve discovered, tends to last a lifelong impression on our target audience we raise awareness on challenges that hinder the equal access of education for all young people. Our main heroes, Ngeti and Njaro, took the spotlight as heads turned to watch our animations. In relation to Sexual Reproductive Health, People Living With Disabilities & Public Health.

We went a step further by conducting the first baseline testing for Oky, a period tracking app for girls, which we are now localizing. In partnership with Mingati and R-Labs, Oky will reach Tanzanians in our local language and be moulded to fit the Tanzanian girl. This project is being supported and funded by UNICEF Tanzania. Innovation week served as an opportunity to raise awareness of the use of science, technology, and innovation and promote local innovators like ourselves. Engaging with other local innovators was a great way to be inspired to do more and be more for greater social impact.
